Julian answers his own phone. There is no call centre, no receptionist and nobody working from a script. If he is under a floor or up a ladder he will not pick up, so leave a message or send a text and he will ring back the same day.
The quickest way to get an answer is to describe what is actually happening. No hot water but the heating works. One radiator cold. Boiler making a noise it did not used to make. That first sentence usually tells him whether it is a small fix, a part, or something bigger, and roughly when he could get to you.

There is no emergency or 24-hour callout. If you smell gas at any hour, do not wait for an engineer: leave the property and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999.

Same day during working hours. He will tell you straight away whether it is a job he does. If it falls outside what he takes on, he says so there and then rather than after a wasted visit.
He comes out and looks. Mains water pressure, flow rate, the state of the pipework, the boiler position, and how the household actually uses hot water. None of that can be judged over the phone, which is why nobody gets a price before he has been.
Covering everything, with nothing added at the end. No obligation and no pushy follow-up. Plenty of customers take a quote, think about it for months, and come back when they are ready.
If he cannot get to you until next week he will say so, rather than booking you in and letting the day slide.
Bristol and roughly ten miles around Staple Hill. There are no call-out charges and no travel costs added on top, wherever you are inside that area. A job in Yate costs the same as a job in Staple Hill.

No general plumbing. No bathrooms, taps, toilets or water leaks. Being clear about that saves everybody a wasted visit, and Julian will tell you on the phone rather than after turning up.
