Gas Safe registered, Worcester Bosch accredited boiler installation across Bristol, with up to a 12-year guarantee and honest, no-pressure advice.
Almost all of Julian's work comes from repeat customers and recommendations. Over forty years, that is the only measure that means anything.
Whether your old boiler has finally given up or you’re upgrading to a more efficient model, Julian supplies and fits the right boiler for your home. As a Worcester Bosch accredited installer, every new boiler comes with up to a 12-year manufacturer guarantee, fitted to full Gas Safe standards.
Part of new boilers in Bristol, alongside replacement, servicing and repair.
Julian looks at your home, your radiators, how many bathrooms you have and measures the incoming mains flow rate. You get a clear fixed price covering everything, with no obligation and no pushy follow-up.
Dust sheets down before anything is touched. The old boiler is drained, disconnected and removed, along with the cylinder and loft tanks if they are no longer needed. All of it taken away.
A full flush, inhibitor dosed and a magnetic filter fitted. Pushing decades of sludge through a new heat exchanger is the fastest way to ruin it, and the filter also protects your guarantee.
Set up to the manufacturer figures, gas rate and pressures checked, combustion analysed. Most straight swaps are done inside a single working day.
Notified to Gas Safe and registered with Worcester, so the paperwork arrives without chasing. Controls explained properly rather than left with a manual, and the house left clean.
Heats water on demand. No cylinder, no loft tanks.
Works with a hot water cylinder for stored, mains-pressure hot water.
Keeps the traditional cylinder and loft feed tanks.
Sizing matters as much as type. An oversized boiler fires, heats quickly, shuts off and repeats, which wears it out sooner and burns more gas than a correctly sized unit running steadily. Julian works out the real heat requirement and measures your mains flow rate before recommending anything.
A straight swap in the same position is usually a single day. You are without heating and hot water for that working day only, and it is back on before Julian leaves. Moving the boiler to a different wall, or converting from a cylinder system to a combi, normally takes two days.
Dust sheets go down before anything comes off the wall. The old boiler is drained, disconnected and removed, along with the cylinder and loft tanks if they are no longer needed, and all of it is taken away as part of the job.
Every installation includes a full system flush and a magnetic filter. Old central heating water carries sludge and corrosion debris, and pushing that through a brand new heat exchanger is the fastest way to ruin it. The filter also protects your manufacturer guarantee, which usually requires one.
Once the new boiler is fitted, it is commissioned to the manufacturer figures, the gas rate and pressures are checked, and the controls are set up. Julian then explains how the programmer and thermostat work rather than leaving you with a manual.
The installation is notified to Gas Safe and registered with Worcester Bosch, so your guarantee paperwork arrives without you chasing anyone. The house is left clean and tidy, which is where most of Julian’s repeat work comes from.
Two quotes for the same boiler can differ by a considerable amount and still both be honest, because they cover different amounts of work. Everything below is included here rather than added afterwards, and it is worth checking line by line against anything else you have been quoted.
An older system holds years of sludge and corrosion debris. Pushing that through a new heat exchanger is the fastest way to ruin it, and most manufacturers will decline a guarantee claim where no filter was fitted. Both are standard, not optional extras.
The old boiler is taken away, along with any redundant cylinder and loft tanks where the system type is changing. Redundant pipework comes out rather than being capped and abandoned above a ceiling.
The boiler is commissioned to the manufacturer's procedure, the work is notified to Gas Safe, and the guarantee is registered with the manufacturer on your behalf. The paperwork is handed over rather than promised.
Timers, thermostats and flow temperatures are configured before Julian leaves, and explained properly rather than left with a manual on the side. A correctly set flow temperature is worth more on a condensing boiler than most people realise.
Worcester Bosch offer guarantees of up to twelve years on a new Greenstar, but the longer terms are only available through an accredited installer. A non-accredited fitter putting in exactly the same boiler cannot register the same length of cover, which is a difference worth more than most price gaps between quotes.
The condition attached to every manufacturer guarantee is an annual service. Miss one and a claim in year eight can be refused, however sound the installation was. It is the single most common reason people find themselves paying for a repair they thought was covered.
Most combi boiler replacements start from around £2,000, depending on the boiler and your home. You get a clear, fixed quote before any work begins.
Yes, quotes are free with no obligation and no pushy follow-up. You get a fixed price up front so there are no surprises later.
Only for the working day of a straightforward swap. A conversion between system types takes about two days.
Up to twelve years on a Worcester Bosch Greenstar boiler, as an accredited installer. The exact term depends on the model and the system, and it is confirmed in your quote. Annual servicing keeps it valid.
No. Worcester Bosch only, deliberately. It is what accreditation and the longest guarantees depend on.
Solid walls lose heat far faster than cavity walls, so radiators need sizing generously. Many still carry original pipework, and single pipe layouts leave the far end of the house cold whatever boiler is fitted. Common in Kingswood, Fishponds and Staple Hill.
Cavity walls, sensible proportions and usually one bathroom make these the most straightforward. The catch is the age of the surrounding system: original radiators put out far less heat than modern equivalents. Common in Downend and Filton.
Well insulated and sealed from new, frequently with two or more bathrooms. The issue is rarely heat loss and almost always hot water capacity, which usually points to a cylinder. Common in Emersons Green, Bradley Stoke and Yate.
Properties towards Hambrook, Pucklechurch and the surrounding villages are not always connected. Julian is LPG qualified, so LPG boiler installation is covered, which rules out a good number of engineers.
Whichever type of property you have, the survey happens before the price. Mains water pressure, flow rate, the existing pipework and how the household actually uses hot water all change the answer, and none of them can be judged from a phone call or a postcode. That is why the quote you get here is a fixed figure for your house rather than a range from a website calculator.
A note on flow temperature, because it is the most commonly mis-set control on a new installation. A condensing boiler only condenses, and only reaches the efficiency on its label, when the water returning to it is cool enough. Run it too hot and it behaves like an old non-condensing boiler while costing the same to buy. Julian sets it correctly at commissioning and shows you where the control is, along with the timer and thermostat, rather than leaving a manual on the worktop.
