Gas Safe registered central heating and boiler services covering all of Bristol and everywhere within 10 miles of our base in Staple Hill, apart from the BS1 and BS2 city centre.
Almost all of Julian's work comes from repeat customers and recommendations. Over forty years, that is the only measure that means anything.
Based in Staple Hill, J K Morgan covers all of Bristol and the surrounding towns. The areas below are just a few of the places we work in most, so if your area isn’t listed, we almost certainly still cover you. Choose your area below, or call Julian to check.
We also cover Clifton, Bedminster, Westbury-on-Trym and the whole of Bristol, apart from the BS1 and BS2 city centre. Not sure if we reach you? Just give Julian a call.
Julian is based at 1 North Street in Staple Hill and covers Bristol and roughly ten miles around. Being a local sole trader rather than a national firm means short travel times, no call-out charges buried in the quote, and the same engineer every visit.
Staple Hill is the home patch, with Downend, Fishponds and Mangotsfield all within a mile or so. These are mostly Victorian and Edwardian terraces with interwar semis filling in, and they share a predictable set of heating quirks that forty years locally has made familiar.
Kingswood, Warmley and Hanham are all within a few miles. Kingswood in particular is dominated by older terraces built for the mining and boot trades, where radiator sizing and system balancing matter far more than boiler brand.
Further out, Keynsham spans Georgian and Victorian property near the centre through to large postwar estates and newer development on the former factory site.
Frenchay, Hambrook and Winterbourne take in period cottages and stone properties alongside newer estate housing. Some of the outlying homes here are off the mains gas grid, which is where the LPG qualification earns its keep.
Filton is dominated by interwar and postwar homes built for the aerodrome and aircraft factories, while Bradley Stoke is almost entirely late eighties onwards, with the hot water capacity issues that come with four bedroom houses and original combi boilers.
Yate and Emersons Green sit towards the outer limit of the area. Both are well within range, though worth booking a little ahead rather than expecting same-day attendance.
The BS1 and BS2 city centre falls outside the service area, as do Bath, Radstock and Weston-super-Mare. If you are not sure whether you are covered, call and ask rather than guessing. Julian would rather tell you honestly than travel too far and do the job badly.
1 North Street, BS16 5SY. Short travel times and no call-out charges.
Fifteen towns covered, from Filton and Bradley Stoke round to Keynsham and Yate.
BS1 and BS2 city centre, Bath, Radstock and Weston-super-Mare are not covered.
After forty years working the same patch, Julian can usually tell from the street name roughly what the property will be, how it will have been built, and what its heating system is likely to be doing wrong.
The things that catch people out in solid wall terraces, or in houses converted from cylinder systems, are already familiar rather than discovered halfway through. That saves time on the day and money on the quote.
Being minutes rather than an hour away means a service or a repair can be fitted in without a half-day charge attached, and it means Julian can come back if something needs a second look.
Call 07831 718509. Quotes are free with no obligation. Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm and weekend mornings, with no emergency or out-of-hours attendance. If you smell gas, call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999.
The full range applies across every area listed: boiler installation, replacement, servicing and repairs, full central heating installation, radiators, unvented cylinders, gas safety inspections and landlord certificates.
Properties off the mains gas grid in the outlying villages are covered through LPG boiler work.
Staple Hill, Downend, Fishponds and Mangotsfield are all within a few minutes of the yard.
Frenchay looks close on a map, but the ring road and the M32 make the drive longer than the distance implies.
Yate and Keynsham sit at the far edge of the area, and are worth booking a little further ahead.
There are no call-out charges and no travel costs added on top, wherever you are within the service area.
Call and ask. Julian would rather give you a straight yes or no than travel too far and rush a job at the other end. If you fall outside the area he will say so on the phone rather than after a wasted appointment.
Each area page above covers the housing in that particular part of Bristol and the heating issues that come with it, because a Victorian terrace and a nineties family home need genuinely different answers. Call Julian on 07831 718509 for a free survey and a fixed quote with no obligation, wherever you are in the area.
Julian is Gas Safe registered under reg. 198984, a Worcester Bosch accredited installer, and qualified for unvented hot water and LPG. Every job across every area listed is carried out by him personally, which is the whole point of using a local sole trader rather than a national firm.
Roughly ten miles from Staple Hill covers it. If you are not sure, call on 07831 718509 and ask. Julian would rather tell you honestly on the phone than travel too far and rush the job at the other end.
No. There is no distance surcharge anywhere within the service area, whether you are a mile away in Downend or six miles out in Yate.
BS1 and BS2 sit outside the area, along with Bath, Radstock and Weston-super-Mare. Keeping the patch tight is what allows short response times and no travel charges everywhere else.
No, the price is the same throughout. Yate and Keynsham are at the outer edge at around fifteen minutes’ drive, so they are worth booking a little further ahead, but they cost no more.
Yes. Julian holds the LPG qualification, which covers the villages and outlying properties that were never connected to the mains. Not every engineer does.
Julian works alone, so the size of the patch is decided by how much of the day can be spent working rather than driving. Roughly ten miles around Staple Hill is what allows a service or a repair to be fitted in without a half-day charge attached, and it is what makes it practical for him to come back if something needs a second look.
Stretching further would mean either charging for travel or rushing the job at the other end, and neither is how this business has run for forty years. If you fall outside the area he will tell you on the phone rather than after a wasted appointment.
The one part of Bristol not covered is the BS1 and BS2 city centre. Access, parking and the practicalities of getting a boiler or a cylinder in and out make it a poor fit for a one-man business, and there are firms better set up for it.
The things that catch people out in solid wall terraces, or in houses converted from cylinder systems, are already familiar rather than discovered halfway through the job. That shows up as fewer changes to the quote and fewer days on site.
Streets here were built together and the houses have barely changed shape since. A heating fault in one is very often the same fault as the one three doors down, which shortens the time spent working out what is wrong.
Being minutes away rather than an hour is what makes a return visit realistic rather than a favour. Julian stands behind his own workmanship as well as the manufacturer warranty, and proximity is what makes that a promise he can keep.
